F u n  w e e k e n d !

Friday: Dinner with many other Norwegians at Sjømannskirken in San Francisco. We had homemade lasagna for dinner and icecream with strawberries for dessert! YUM! To my big dissapointment I've discovered that I am allergic to strawberries, but I could not resist to eat a few... It was yummy :) After dinner we got together and talked and had a quiz. Around 10 p.m we took a cab to downtown SF and went to a huge club called Ruby Sky. It was very expensive and fancy. We even had champagne and whatnot. Haha. Not my favorite kind of place, but it was lots of fun.

Saturday: Me and Stian biked down to the Berkeley Marina to enjoy the sun for a few hours. It was incredibly hot so we managed to stay for a whole hour. Haha. Could not take the heat any longer! But it was a nice trip and we got to see some interesting things along the way.. At night Stian went to some friends to play poker while I joined Ida and Julie for a little vorspiel at their place :) We ended (of course) up in San Francisco again and had a blast at Le Colonial. Did anyone say VIP-list?!

Sunday: Not feeling so great. Took a shower, just relaxed on the couch and went to yoga in the evening. Had dinner with Stian and watched a movie.

Incubus - Just A Phase
DEDIKERT TIL HANNE SIRI

I am bottled, fizzy water, and you are shaking me up
You are a fingernail, running down the chalkboard
I thought I left in third grade
Now my only, consolation, is that this could not last forever
Even though you're singing and thinking
How well you've got it made

Who are you?
When will you be through?

Yeah, it's just a phase... It will be over soon
Yeah, it's just a phase
Yeah, it's just a phase

Call it 'women's intuition', but I think I'm on to something here
Temporaryism has been the black plague
And the Jesus of our age
I know that I sound opinionated, maybe biased
And quite possibly jaded.
But sooner than later
They'll be throwing quarters at you on stage

Who are you?
When will you be through?

Yeah, it's just a phase... It will be over soon.
Yeah, it's just a phase, and I'm waiting for it to be over too.

I have been gone for a while, you could say.
It takes time to maintain this kind of website -
so I guess I needed an itsy bitsy vacation from it.

But it's a new, fresh year and I will try to give you the scoop
of my everyday life as it goes by.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

my blog:

Nov 10

What a lovely week it's been! I am happy happy happy.

So last friday I handed in my last (and hardest) paper for school in the class 'samfunnsvitenskapelig forskningsmetode'. And YEAH, the class is as boring as it sounds. Don't even doubt it. Ok? OK, good.
After that was done, I cleaned my room, some of the apartment, did laundry and went groceryshopping. I had a blast! I visited Christina and Charlotte in  the evening. We watched Idol and then Supernatural. Eline came as well! :) We made smooties. Yummie!

Waking up saturday morning was probably the best feeling I've had all semester. I got up at around 10 and went to Ikea for some fun shopping with Hanne Siri :) Haha. We had fun. And we were both very "vingle-petter". But hey, they have a lot of nice (read: cheap) stuff! We grabbed some well deserved pizza after all the shopping and went home by bus. It was RAINING. Later that night Jo and Hanne Siri joined me and Stian :) We made dinner, had some wine, beer and more wine and just had a terrific evening.

Monday I decided not to do anything school related, because I was FED up. So after waking up late, me and Stian went shopping. We both bought stuff. I found this cute dress and also bought some unnecessarily stuff as a shirt and earrings. God, I've missed the city. Assignments kill your social ability, let me tell you. So tuesday.. Guess what I did? Haha. I went more shopping :D Well, I went to uni first and then headed downtown. Met Elizabeth and little Signe for lunch at Jordbærpikene and when they had to leave I started my shopping adventure :D So much fancy stuff around these days. Anyways, tuesday was Erlends birthday so when they came back from babyswimming in the evening me and Stian joined them. We bought real junk food (Mickey D's take-away, haha) and went home for a feast. I felt so American then. Hooray! Then we had cake, coffee and opened presents (Erlend did). Then we played amazing boardgames and watched Grey's Anatomy.

The rest of the week has been good as well. I tried to do an effort to get schoolstuff done. I did pretty good. Friday night I went back to Christina and Charlotte (Kristin, Tor and Kirsti was also there). We watched Idol, Supernatural <3 and Heroes. Haha. Seriesgeeks, eh? :) Sat morning Stian woke me up when he came by to pick up something. I spent the afternoon with Elizabeth and Signe. We had lunch, played on the floor and made waffles :) Yummy! Later me, Stian, Jo and HS went to Samfundet on a samfundsmøte. It was very interesting. I really liked it! The girls were out for the night so we (Stian and me) decided to just stay home and relax. We made biff (steak?) and yummy potatoes and watched a movie.

So today is Sunday... I wonder what this week is going to be like. I'll keep ya'll posted.

It's 8 o'clock. I'm still at university. Trying to work on my assignment. But I think I'm done for today. I can't concentrate. And my boyfriend is somewhere playing poker.

It snowed today! Then it rained. Then it snowed again! But then it rained away.. It's only the 11th of October. What the hell?

I tried to find some scientific articles for my assignment. Didn't find any - so I googled it. Haha. Googling your uni assignment is not something you're supposed to do.. But I did anyway :D I googled John Goldthorpe and his social mobility theory. I came across a picture of the Sfinx.

I have no idea whatsoever - what the connection between the two is.

I am going to do some changes on this site once everything is back to normal. It should be good! Meanwhile I will try to update often. Especially this my blog. I do enjoy writing - I'm just a little too busy sometimes. But I will do my best.

Jeg irriterer meg over min lillebror som bare spille System of A Down uanstendig høyt,

Foreningen for krybbedød, foreningen for hjerte og lungesyke, foreningen for lesbiske, foreningen for blinde, foreningen for oss over 60.

Jeg irriterer meg grenseløst over Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Nicole Ritchie, Tara Reid, Nicky Hilton, Jessica Simpson and resten av drama-dronningene.

"It's raining so hard outside it feels like the windows are about to break. Pitch black. Can't even see the ocean.. It's 2 am and I'm on my second cup of vanilla tea. I love being alone. Silence. Just me and the sound of the rain on my window. I love rain. It's always coming down cool and fresh. I'll tuck myself in a blanket and stay inside all day with a good excuse. Another good thing about rain is that it's infinite. It will never stop. It'll always be coming down, with the same purpose and slam into the bottom. Forever."

Found this among my much previous my blog entries on deviantart. Just thought it was wierd to read in this moment. It's more than a year ago, but I still remember the feeling. The feeling of loneliness and despair. The feeling of not knowing.

I was listening to Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire as I read it. Had to smile. I thought the loneliness would be perpetual.

But it wasn't. I feel free. It's funny how things change.
Life has never been better.

So by:larm was pretty crazy.

Thursday evening me, Magne and Jon Martin sat around at my place playing Settlers (which I lost..) when Malin all of a sudden called and told me she got me a free pass to the whole thing. I didn't believe it at first, but when I got my wristband and crew-pass it was pretty much confirmed.

Not only did we save like 700 kr, but we had the goddamn crew-pass, which let us in everywhere. Haha.

Malin, du e gal!

Anyway.. We saw quite an amount of bands live in 3 days.
I did freeze the entire time, I spent too much money on food and beer, I got drunk and I definitely got sick again. But it was worth it.

Tool - The Pot

Who are you to wave your finger?
You must have been out your head
Eyehole deep in muddy waters
You practically raised the dead.

Rob the grave to snow the cradle
Then burn the evidence down.
Soapbox house of cards and glass
So don't go tossing your stones around.

You must have been high
You must have been high
You must have been.

Foot in mouth and head up ass
So whatcha' talkin' bout?
Difficult to dance round this one
Till you pull it out.. boy.

You must have been so high.

Black then white are all i see in my infancy.

Red and yellow then came to be,
reaching out to me. Lets me see.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn beyond the lines of reason.

Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing
separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition,
missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment ,
drawing way outside the lines.

So...

I'm at the airport in Bodø waiting for my flight to Trondheim, and I've got about 4 hours of waiting. Amazinggg. This must be the most boring airport in the universe. No kidding. It even beats those 36 hours I spent in Frankfurt all by myself. Haha.

Anyway.. I can update my blog to kill some time, so that's good I guess.. I feel pretty good actually.. I'm drinking tea and listening to Tool.

It's sad to go home... I've been home for almost a month and it was amazing. I'm gonna miss everyone.

I don't know how to sum up my Christmas in short.. Basically what I've been doing is eating, been lazy, slept alot, spent time with my family and friends, drinking, work, partying, watched movies, girls' nights, some more drinking, some more partying, visiting family, and partying.

I also took quite a bit of pictures ;)

Umm.. Talked to Sarah on the phone last night. I miss her.. Good times.

I need to get better at updating this, I know. But err.. It's Christmas.
Christmas was amazing this year. I guess I never learned how to appreciate it until I moved away.
There is nothing like coming home after a whole semester without seeing anyone.

Christmas Eve was great. Me and my brother spent the morning and mid-day at my dads. Me and Lars made a pact to get up early to watch the amazing Disney cartoons, 3 Nøtter Til Askepott & Reisen til Julestjernen but... He never got up. Haha. Well, he did - but way later than me. Soo.. We had a huge breakfast together, my dad makes the best hot chocolate in the world. Then after we all watched cartoons and ate more candy. Yay for healthy us! Then later we dressed up and went to the cemetary. We put decorations and candlelights on the grave and talked to many others who were there as well. I took some pictures - it was a beautiful morning.

Later I went to pick up Min and we went to church together, just me and her. The rest were busy visiting people, making dinner and all that. Met my friends in church and we all sat together. Church was good - our Danish priest rocks! Haha. I always go to church on Christmas, not cause I'm very religious but it's like a tradition.. My grandparents would always bring me with them. So now that they're gone, I still have to do it.

Later came dinner with the whole family. Pinnekjøtt ♥ The rest of the night was awesome: presents, more food, cakes, cookies, visiting some people etc.

I love being home!

The Cardigans -
 Communication

"I didn’t really know what to call you,
you didn’t know me at all.
But I was happy to explain.
I never really knew how to move you
So I tried to intrude through
the little holes in your veins
And I saw you.

But that’s not an invitation
That’s all I get
If this is communication
I disconnect
I’ve seen you, I know you
But I don’t know
How to connect, so I disconnect

You always seem to know where to find me
and I’m still here behind you
In the corner of your eye.
I’ll never really learn how to love you
But I know that I love you
through the hole in the sky.

Where I see you
And that’s not an invitation
That’s all I get
If this is communication
I disconnect
I’ve seen you, I know you
But I don’t know how to connect,

so I disconnect."

Umm. I've been part busy part lazy and totally forgotten to update. Eek!

I'll try to do it now.. Hmm.

November has been a shitty month. That is my conclusion. All in all.

Erlend's birthday, Elizabeth's birthday, julebord.. Some fun trips to the city for shopping, and that's about it. Except from that everything has kind of just gone down.

Feeling kind of depressed. You know how it is..

So what the hell is going on with airlines nowadays, anyway?

Poor Mailinn didn't get very far thursday. Arrg. My day turned out to be a big dissapointment. For many reasons.
But atleast it ended pretty sweet. Me and Silje got bored and went for a walk.

When we got back, Stian joined us and we watched the Godfather.

Italian mafia, cold blooded people and violence.
I seriously love that movie.

Today was great.

Me and Ranveig went to the gym around 8 and worked out till about 10.  The instructur was out of control today and I don't think I've ever been so exhausted. I barely made it into the shower..

After showering and stuff we went to uni.
After a long, long weekend with mostly schoolwork we decided to take a day off and celebrate that we're done with the semester assignment. Wohoo :)

So we went up to the library, grabbed a bunch of fresh newspapers, some fruit and coffee of course..  We just sat up there from around 10 till 2 reading newspapers and talking. Amazing. I think that is becoming  my new weekly form of relaxation? Ahh.

Around 7 we went to Samfundet to attend a lecture by author Henning Mankell. Great words from a great man :)

Parabol - Tool

So familiar and overwhelmingly warm
This one, this form I hold now.

Embracing you, this reality here.
This one, this form I hold now,
so wide eyed and hopeful.

Wide eyed and hopefully wild.
We barely remember,
What came before this precious moment.

Choosing to be here right now. Hold on, stay inside...
This body holding me, reminding me that I am not alone.
This body makes me feel eternal.
All this pain is an illusion.

amazing.

Guess what...?!

Me and Ranveig made it to the ISFiT-crew! Woohoo!

School was alright. I read a chapter about China's government.

Amen to that.

After making moussaka and salad, we went to the ISFiT-meeting at Gløshaugen.
After a couple of hours, everyone headed down to Samfundet, where we had a quiz and had a few beers.

Me, Ranveig, Randi and Maria swung by Sesam -
and I had the most amazing kebab ever. Ahh.

Oh and by the way.. The ISFiT festival '07 is going to rock.

I <3 Trondheim.

So I guess I should write something about what's been going on here..

After I came here, got settled in and all that 'introduction week' began. Imagine a whole week of just fun, fun, fun. Socializing, barbeque, parties, shopping, partying, restaurants and more partying. This is a genious way to make friends and like.. "break the ice".

The group I was in was superb! I didn't really know all that many people in this city except from my sister & Erlend, Malin and Magne. But after 'introduction week', I've made a lot of good friends.

For those of you who don't know, I live at a 'studentby' called Voll. There are about 500 apartments here, it's huge!
I have my own room and bathroom, I share kitchen with 7 other awesome people. With over 500 students within less than a kilometer, you can image what the weekends are like... Haha. Exactly.

Oh boy.

The university is enormous, and I find it quite scary with all those people. After a month, I'm finally starting to know my way around. It sucks getting lost all the time ;p Anyway.. It has a great atmosphere and some cool stores, cafès and so on. I have lectures like 5 times a week and then some review sessions. The main studying I'm supposed to do on my own at the beloved "lesesaler". Uhh.

The classes I'm taking are..

Introduction to political science (Innføring i statsvitenskap) which is very confusing and slightly boring.

Current issues in the world today,
which for some reason is mainly about East Asia.

Then there's ex.phil.. which just really needs to die.
I hate that class. Bah.

Tilbake til  N e w  Y o r k

New York neste!

Reaksjonene deres var noe blandet, noen kjente meg ikke igjen, noen hoppet rundt i ring mens andre bare ropte ”Weegie is here!!”

State Building, museer – you name it.
